Winged with Death

A boy has to peddle his book, said Truman Capote. And with that in mind I’ve published the opening chapter of my latest novel, Winged with Death, on this blog. It’s rather lengthy, but you don’t have to read it all.

It will be published by Flambard Press in the early part of 2009..

I believe it was Capote who also said, Finishing a book is just like you took a child out in the yard and shot it.

I didn’t see the movie about Capote. But I remember what some writers have said over the years.

Hello, John! Welcome to blogging, your new addiction. Side effects may include confusion, hopefulness, disappointment, and, if you smoke, coughing. Your paying work will suffer but your ever embiggening hit counter will fill your heart with delusions of fame that will snuff your quest for money faster than sex’ll ruin a perfectly good nun.

I will read your sample chapter and keep you close at hand on my blogroll. Best of luck to you!

About Writing:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life… “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.” Unknown Author
