This is the result of a very short online quiz. The amount of input required was not possibly enough to elicit this response. But if you’re into quizzes. . .
You Should Be a Film Writer |
![]() You don’t just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind. You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life. Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling. And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen! |
What Type of Writer Should You Be?
I don’t know if this is true. I’ve never tried to write a film script. One of the things I love about writing novels is that it is just me in a room and no other distractions. Particularly: no other people. I know that writing for television involves input from many others; almost everyone involved, in fact, wants to have their say, the producers, the director, the actors, and many other technicians and professionals down to the tea boy. For some writers that scenario obviously works. But for me I want to live in my imagination and that, necessarily, means doing it alone.

Hello
I took the quiz (thanks for the link) and came out as a poet! (The last time I wrote a poem I was about 15.)
However, I agree with you that the quiz wasn’t set well — for at least half the categories I could not give the answer I wanted to.

The film industry needs writers like you – then maybe we wouldn’t have to sit through such trite!

John,
I’d like to be the kind of writer that eventually is able to make a living from it. It’s nice to be able to get an article published now and then, even a story, and someday maybe a screenplay or novel.

I’m surprised it didn’t tell me I should be a blog writer

John, I took the quiz and got the same result as you did. But I am a poet, though I wrote stories in the past. The questions are too few and general; I think, though, you’d write excellent scripts.
