Five Questions: The Cassandra Pages
1. Why do you blog?
To express myself in an immediate way, and to communicate with others. Reflecting on daily life comes naturally to me, perhaps because I am a long-time journal-keeper and letter-writer. Blogging is a combination of the two. It’s a very satisfying medium for me.
2. Which author and/or book has most influenced you?
I’m afraid two come to mind immediately: The Iliad, and Shunryu Suzuki’s Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind. Thomas Merton’s The Sign of Jonas. The poetry of Akhmatova, Milosz.
3. Which three blogs do you most visit?
Chris Clarke’s Creek Running North at: (http://faultline.org/index.php/site/index/)
Dave Bonta’s Via Negativa at: (http://www.vianegativa.us/)
Dale’s Mole at: (http://koshtra.blogspot.com/)
4. Why do you read fiction?
To inhabit lives and worlds I would never otherwise know or, often, even be able to imagine.
5. What makes you laugh?
The antics of animals.
