1. Why do you blog?
I’ve always had life journals, starting with a small five-year red diary when I was about ten years old. (I still have it too.) Then notebooks of various types, advancing to typed pages in looseleaf binders. Naturally, with the advent of online journaling, I began a blog. Progess, I suppose. But the habit of occasional reflection in a journal helps me find perspective on life events, and is always a good source of how I felt during major upheavals in my life.

2. Which author and/or book has most influenced you?
The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald is one of my favorite novels. I believe it taught me one can yearn too much and too long for a past that cannot ever be resurrected. In other words, we must live each day and, while learning from the past is necessary, we can never go back there.

3. Which three blogs do you most visit?
Backstory at: http://mjroseblog.typepad.com/backstory/

Baghdad Burning at: http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/

Bitchypoo at: http://www.bitchypoo.com/

4. Why do you read fiction?
To learn, to escape, to delight in the mystery and intensity of beautiful prose.

5. What makes you laugh?
Witty commentary, hilarious send-ups of life (like Mad TV comic skits), sarcasm (if done right) and slapstick movies (like The Money Pit).

Cara Swann blogs at Mad, Mad World which can be found here: http://madmadworld.blogspot.com/
