1. Why do you blog?
As a form of semi-anonymous expression. For me, blogging is a little like writing very short stories that I don’t have to edit or worry about submitting. The rejection factor is nil; if the writing strikes a chord, people respond, but usually no one writes just to be negative. There’s a little ego involved.
2. Which author and/or book has most influenced you?
The Catcher in the Rye (J.D. Salinger). This is the only book I have ever read that resonated with me in ways I still can’t explain. (I never read other authors when I’m working on a novel. I’ve been working on the latest for the last year and a half! I can’t wait to finish my work so that I can drown in books - and yours, John, will be some of the first. I also want to re-read everything by Ernest J. Gaines.)
3. Which three blogs do you most visit?
Because I try not to read anything that influences me when I’m writing I’ve stuck to blogs that are interesting on a casual level. The World According to Supa Sister, Obscure Store & Reading Room, and Tabloid Column. I’ve actually become cyber-friends with Supa Sister.
4. Why do you read fiction?
Because I like to visit worlds that other authors create with their words. The type of fiction I usually read lets me experience how people (those who are different from me in some way) sound, think or just react to life. It’s a great education.
5. What makes you laugh?
Too many of the wrong things (and usually at inappropriate times). My best recent laugh was over some poor woman busting her tailbone in a parking lot. The best time to be had is going out with friends and just cracking off on what people are wearing or doing.
