I have read Beyond Sleep and loved it, but will have to agree with Ruud: read The dark room of Damocles, since it will change your live. I studied it last year in my Dutch high-school and have never seen a book that could capture the attention and fascination of 30 puberal 16 year-olds as good as that. WF Hermans creates sober fairytales that make it very hard to stop reading. I myself am Dutch, but currently living in South Africa/Swaziland.
