Acupuncture

For some years now, Nawaz Nazir has travelled from Sheffield every week or so to give acupuncture to people in the community here. He usually stays over with us. Nawaz is cricket-crazy and a practising Sufi and between appointments and in the evening and morning he is busy with his prayers or preparing food, or, when he can fit it in, playing table tennis. Somewhere, somehow, in this rather secular household, he identifies and occupies islands of peace and restfulness.

Nawaz reminds me of another old friend, Geoff Gritten, now living in Australia, to whom I am grateful for the following news:

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.
Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote “The Hokey Pokey” died peacefully at the age of 93.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.

They put his left leg in……….. And then the trouble started.
