A Writer’s Notebook IV
I have a note about a guy who had a car but no tax disc, no insurance. The car was a wreck and had undergone many home-made repairs to keep it on the road. To list all the faults of the vehicle would take too long. Significantly, the only door that opened was the hatchback, the others being jammed or wired shut because the locking mechanisms were broken or rusted through.
The story goes that one day a sharp-eyed policeman stopped the vehicle and asked the driver to step out.
This one’s in the notebook because I find it inspirational.

I just laughed out loud at this & then had to explain the outburst to the just-risen household, who also laughed out loud, including 17-month-old Maisie!
